Supervises daily laundry services to provide an adequate supply of linen to meet the needs of the residents/patients in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

1. Work Assignments: Schedules employees to meet the needs of the facility. Prioritizes, assigns and monitors work of Laundry Technicians; adjusts assignments to cover last minute needs and staff absences. Monitors and teaches staff to ensure that they follow established procedures and regulations.
2. Collection: Collects residents’ soiled personal clothing from Baker residents’ rooms; collects long-term care residents personal clothing from nursing units. Collects house linens from nursing units and dining rooms to avoid soiled linen buildup. Transports laundry containers to Laundry. 
3. Washing Linen: Sorts and weighs laundry. Loads soiled linen into washers. Loads clean, wet linens into dryers. Operates commercial washing machines and dryers.
4. Finishing: Folds clean, dry linen. Makes up carts of linens for delivery.
5. Personal Clothing: Washes, dries and folds personal clothing. Presses personal clothing as needed. Adds name labels to new personal items.
6. Distribution: Returns clean linens and personal items to nursing units and resident/patient rooms to avoid clean linen shortages. Ensures daily delivery of incontinence products to nursing units, Adult Day and resident/patient rooms.
7. Supply Levels: Conducts inventory of linens, laundry supplies and incontinence products. Maintains par levels by notifying Director of Environmental Services to order supplies to handle resident and facility needs. Ensures clean and proper storage of supplies. 
8. Maintenance: Maintains laundry areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner. Maintains equipment. Communicates maintenance and repair requests to Building Services.

9. Performs other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires High School diploma or equivalent. 

WORK ORIENTATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Requires 2 years of experience in laundry services in a healthcare facility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a commercial laundry setting and in a healthcare setting. Requires continuous walking, standing, balancing, bending and stooping throughout the day. Requires physical effort including the need to lift or carry up to 75 pounds and push or pull a cart weighing up to 75 pounds; adheres to established protocol for lifting objects. Constant reaching with the hands or arms, and use of hands to finger, handle or feel. Requires ability to talk, hear and smell. Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

May be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings and/or nights, and during emergent situations such as extreme weather conditions or disasters.

Constant exposure to heat and high noise levels and to body fluids, infectious waste, or blood borne disease requiring standard precautions. Employees will be instructed in the proper use of personal protective equipment and specific protocol if assigned duties where they may be at risk.
